John Henshaw (b.1951) Familiar face on British TV known for his no-nonsense "hard man" roles. John Henshaw is "Ancoats born but Oldham bred" and still lives in the town. He took to acting quite late in life after starting out as a binman in Manchester.
Eric Longworth (1918-2008) Oldham Coliseum regular best remembered as Town Clerk Gordon in Dad's Army. Eric Longworth was born in Shaw started acting in 1935 for the Crompton Stage Society . He spent 11 years at the Oldham Coliseum after the war.
