Ronald Castree (b.1953) Convicted child murderer who was finally held to account 32 years after his crime. Ronald Castree grew up in Rochdale but spent many years after in Shaw working as a taxi driver. In 2007 he was convicted of the murder of Lesley Molseed.
Robert Stewart (1918-1989) Home Office executioner from 1950-1964 and officially Britain's last ever hangman. Robert Leslie Stewart settled in Chadderton in 1945 after serving in the RAF. After the death penalty was abolished he emigrated to South Africa.
Shabir Ahmed (b.1953) Convicted ringleader of a paedophile gang that groomed vulnerable girls in Rochdale. Shabir Ahmed was born in Pakistan but moved to Oldham where he lived at Windsor Road, Coppice. He worked locally as a taxi driver.
Kabeer Hassan (b.1986) Member of the infamous "Rochdale Grooming" gang sentenced to 12 years for rape and conspiracy. Kabeer Hassan lived on Lacrosse Avenue in Werneth. He had worked in two takeaways in Heywood. He lived with his parents and is married.
